Steps On Adjusting The Rain Bird Sprinkler Head 

Adjusting a sprinkler head is not a complicated task. Regardless of which type of sprinkler head you have, the job is pretty straightforward and simple. In this article, we will go over the methods on how to properly adjust a Rain Bird sprinkler head so that you can achieve the watering system that your garden needs. 

Since the process of adjusting the sprinkler head is quite different for each type, it is important to know which type you’re working on. The most common types of sprinkler heads include pop-up, rotor, and impact sprinkler. The Rain Bird sprinkler head falls under the rotor type. This type of sprinkler head has rotating or multiple streams of water to distribute water to the lawn. 

There are different models of Rain Bird sprinkler heads in the market. But they are basically the same when it comes to functionality and adjustments. One of the most common models of the Rain Bird sprinkler is the 1800 series. This pop-up style head model is ideal for commercial and residential applications. It allows directional adjustment by turning the sprinkler stem or riser. The watering direction and flow can also be adjusted by replacing its head. The adjustable spray lets you change the watering pattern from 0 to 360 degrees. 

Below are four easy steps to adjust the Rain Bird sprinkler head: 

1. If you want to adjust the watering direction of this sprinkler type, simply pull up on the stem or riser. You can pull up the stem using your hands until it points to the desired location where you want to water. 

2. If you want to adjust the Rain Bird sprinklers’ spray distance, look for the adjustment screw. It is usually located on top of the sprinkler head. You may adjust the spray distance or flow by 25 percent. Use a flat-head screwdriver and rotate the screw in a clockwise direction to decrease the spray distance. On the other hand, rotate to the counterclockwise direction if you want to increase the spray distance. 

3. If you want to adjust the spray pattern of your Rain Bird sprinkler head, look for the threads on the collar. Rotate the threads on the collar of the sprinkler head using your hands. Then move the threads to the right or left direction in order to make adjustments. 

4. If you want to replace the nozzle of your Rain Bird sprinkler, simply hold the nozzle and rotate it counterclockwise to remove it. Using a flat head screwdriver, detach the filter screen by prying it out of the stem. Replace the old filter with the new one and attach the new nozzle by rotating it in a clockwise direction until it is tight.
